Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After Hit-and-Run on Preston Highway

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is in critical condition following a hit-and-run crash on Preston Highway Monday evening in the Okolona area.

Louisville Metro Police responded to a reported crash around 8:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of Preston Highway, near Hillview Boulevard and Rogers Avenue. According to department spokesperson Aaron Ellis, the man was riding a motorcycle southbound on Preston Highway when he attempted to navigate through traffic. As he maneuvered, the motorcyclist ended up in the middle of the highway in the turning lane.

Ellis stated that the rider was struck head-on by a vehicle that was also positioned in the turning lane “for some unknown reason.” The impact caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from his bike. The driver of the car involved in the collision failed to stop and fled the scene, continuing southbound on Preston Highway.

Emergency Medical Services transported the motorcyclist to University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Louisville Metro Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has video surveillance of the area to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to the LMPD Crime Tip Line at (502) 574-LMPD (5673) or through the department’s online tip portal.

The investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing as authorities work to identify the suspect and gather more information about the incident.
