Woman Arrested for Assaulting UofL Hospital Nurse After Discharge Frustration

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A woman was arrested on Saturday afternoon after allegedly assaulting a nurse at the University of Louisville Hospital. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when 35-year-old Mykeisha Johnson reportedly attacked the nurse while she was performing her rounds.

According to court documents, surveillance footage captured the altercation, which began when Johnson allegedly choked the nurse and slammed her to the ground. The attack continued as Johnson struck the nurse in the face and body while she was on the floor.

Hospital staff, including mental health technicians, heard the commotion and intervened before hospital security arrived to remove Johnson from the scene.

When questioned by police, Johnson admitted to the assault but claimed that the nurse had not provoked her in any way. Johnson reportedly told officers that her frustration stemmed from the delay in her discharge from the hospital, and she attacked the first person she encountered as a result.

The nurse, who did not wish to be identified, suffered multiple injuries including pain in her neck, the back of her head, her left leg, abdomen, upper back, and shoulder. She also sustained redness and swelling on her left arm. The nurse was treated for her injuries and is expected to recover.

Johnson was taken into custody and transported to Metro Corrections. She faces charges including assault of a healthcare provider, wanton endangerment, and menacing. A cash bond of $10,000 was set for her release, and her first court appearance is scheduled for Monday morning.

Hospital officials have yet to comment on the incident, but it serves as a stark reminder of the risks healthcare workers face while on duty. Assaulting healthcare providers is a criminal offense in Kentucky, with penalties designed to protect the safety and well-being of medical staff.

The attack has drawn attention to the growing concern over violence in healthcare settings, where employees often face heightened risks from patients and visitors. Hospital staff and authorities continue to emphasize the importance of maintaining a safe environment for both patients and healthcare workers alike.
