LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three individuals have been arrested in connection to a double shooting in Shively on Saturday night that left one man dead and a woman injured.
The shooting occurred in the 4100 block of Cheviot Drive, near Crums Lane and Interstate 264, around 7:45 p.m. Shively Police responded to the scene and discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. A female victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the male victim, who sustained life-threatening injuries, was also taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.
According to Shively Police Sergeant Jordan Brown, authorities believe the shooting was targeted and not a random act of violence.
Following an investigation, police arrested 18-year-old Bri’kell Buckner and two juveniles in connection with the shooting. A search warrant executed at a residence on National Turnpike, south of Interstate 265, led to their arrest. Authorities discovered the three suspects hiding in the basement of the home, with other individuals present who claimed the suspects had been staying there.
During the search of the basement, officers found three handguns that had been disassembled and concealed within a wall. Surveillance footage from earlier investigations showed that the suspects frequently visited a detached barn located behind the house. When officers searched the barn, they found heroin, a digital scale, and a stolen vehicle.
The three suspects now face multiple charges, including murder, first-degree assault, trafficking a controlled substance (heroin), tampering with physical evidence, and receiving stolen property. In addition, Buckner is charged with unlawful transaction with a minor.
The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to uncover more details about the shooting and the suspects’ activities.
Shively Police continue to urge anyone with additional information about the case to come forward.
