SWAT Standoff in Fairdale Ends with Arrest of Louisville Man

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A tense standoff in Fairdale concluded Tuesday evening with the arrest of a Louisville man after several hours of negotiations. The incident took place in the 1300 block of Bridget Drive, where the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) SWAT team surrounded a residence following reports of gunfire.

According to LMPD, multiple calls came in around midday, indicating that 51-year-old Brad McKinley was outside his home, firing a firearm. When officers arrived at the scene, McKinley reportedly fled back into his house. Authorities then sought and obtained an arrest warrant, with charges of wanton endangerment.

LMPD spokespersons confirmed that SWAT units were dispatched to handle the situation, urging McKinley to come out peacefully. Despite efforts to make contact, the suspect remained unresponsive. After hours of failed communication, SWAT entered the home and discovered McKinley hiding in the attic.

The suspect was taken into custody around 7 p.m. without further incident. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the ordeal, and LMPD confirmed that there is no longer any threat to public safety in the area.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, though no additional details have been released as of now.
