Several Arrested in Fatal Harvest Homecoming Shooting, Plea Deals and Trials Loom

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A fatal shooting at the Harvest Homecoming festival has led to multiple arrests, with several suspects already pleading guilty, while others are preparing for trial later this year.

At least nine individuals have been connected to the tragic incident, which took the life of 18-year-old Bryce Gerlach, an innocent bystander who was caught in the crossfire. Two other people were injured during the shooting.

Among the suspects, two adults and two juveniles have entered guilty pleas, while five others, including Isaiah Page, who is facing murder charges, are set to go to trial in the coming months. Page’s trial is expected to take place later this year.

Shermichael Smith, one of the individuals arrested, is represented by defense attorney William McCall. McCall recently spoke about the case, revealing his client’s intent to proceed to trial. “Right now, I am contemplating going to trial based on discussions with my client. I believe this case will go to trial in August unless something significant comes up in the discovery phase,” McCall said.

Smith’s case has drawn attention due to his lack of prior criminal history. McCall shared that Smith had been employed at General Electric (GE) for several years before the incident. “It’s unusual to have a situation where you’ve got a young man who has never been involved in any type of criminal activity, especially something related to gunplay,” McCall explained.

As the legal process continues, the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office has been working to hold all involved parties accountable. While the prosecutor declined to comment on camera, a spokesperson for the office stated, “We are continuing to pursue accountability for all those involved,” noting that several plea deals have already been successfully negotiated. More agreements are expected as the case progresses.

In the meantime, the community remains shaken by the violence at Harvest Homecoming, with the memory of Bryce Gerlach’s tragic death still fresh in the minds of many. Authorities are committed to ensuring justice is served, and further developments in the case are anticipated as the trials approach.
