Man Killed, Woman Injured in Early Morning Shooting Near University of Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man was killed, and a woman was injured in a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning near the University of Louisville campus, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD).

The shooting took place in the 400 block of University Boulevard, near Eastern Parkway, around 12:16 a.m. Officers responding to the scene discovered two victims who had been shot. Both individuals were transported to University Hospital in critical condition, but the male victim, whose identity has not yet been released, later succumbed to his injuries.

The female victim, whose condition remains stable, was reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell confirmed that the Homicide Unit is handling the investigation and assured that all parties involved in the incident have been accounted for. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident or any other cases to contact the LMPD’s anonymous Crime Tip Line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department’s online crime tip portal.

As the investigation continues, police have not released further details. Community members are encouraged to remain vigilant as law enforcement works to piece together the events surrounding this tragic incident.
