Man Dies After Shooting in Middletown; Suspicious Package Found at Scene

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man has died after being shot early Wednesday morning in the Middletown area. The incident occurred on Winter Springs Court at approximately 7:30 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Middletown Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim lying on the ground and immediately began providing aid. The man was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries but later succumbed to his wounds.

While investigating the scene, authorities found a “suspicious package” near where the victim was located. The Louisville Metro Police Department’s bomb unit was called to the scene and successfully rendered the package safe. Fortunately, no explosive materials were found.

Law enforcement has assured the public that there is no ongoing threat related to the package or the shooting. However, the investigation continues, with police identifying a Chevrolet Box truck as a possible link to the case. The truck was located later Wednesday afternoon, and the driver is now considered a person of interest. Authorities have expressed concern that the truck may contain an explosive device, though details remain unclear.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Updates on the case will be provided as more details emerge.
