Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Stabbing at Oldham County Health Department

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly stabbing and killing a woman at the Oldham County Health Department the previous evening.

According to a statement from the Oldham County Police Department, officers responded to an assault call just before 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the Health Department, located at 1786 Commerce Parkway. Upon arrival, officers discovered 33-year-old Katherine Homez Gomez suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Oscar Torres Alvarez, Gomez’s former boyfriend. Authorities say they quickly began coordinating with Indiana State Police to locate the suspect. At approximately 2:00 a.m. Wednesday, Alvarez was found in his car near Merrillville, Indiana, and was taken into custody without incident.

Alvarez has been charged with murder and burglary in connection with the death of Gomez. His bond has been set at $2,000,000. The police have not released further details about the motive for the attack, but the investigation is ongoing.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock, and local authorities continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the crime. As the investigation progresses, more information may be released.
