LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville woman is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) detective during an incident in the Park Hill neighborhood earlier this week.
The confrontation occurred around 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at a residence in the 1700 block of Bolling Avenue, near South 22nd Street. According to LMPD, officers were conducting an investigation in the area when 35-year-old Ciarra Rucker allegedly aimed a firearm at a detective and stated, “I will shoot you.”
The detective reportedly retreated to a position of cover to protect himself from what police described as a potential threat of serious physical harm or death.
Authorities say Rucker then barricaded herself inside the home for several hours. A standoff ensued before officers were able to safely take her into custody at approximately 10:40 p.m., without further incident.
During a subsequent search of the residence, officers located a loaded handgun with one round in the chamber inside an upstairs closet where Rucker had allegedly been hiding. Investigators say Rucker is a convicted felon, legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.
She is now facing several charges, including wanton endangerment of a police officer, terroristic threatening, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Rucker is currently being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $25,000 bond.
