LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) is actively searching for Demetrius Hebert, who faces felony charges related to the abuse and subsequent death of a puppy.
According to a Facebook post released by LMPD on Tuesday, authorities said Hebert became involved in a verbal altercation with his girlfriend at their residence. During the dispute, Hebert began packing his belongings to leave but allegedly grabbed the couple’s puppy, named “Kash,” by the neck and swung him violently.
Police reported that Hebert threw the puppy across the room, causing Kash to collide with a glass table before falling to the floor. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and transported the puppy to Shively Animal Hospital. Unfortunately, Kash died before receiving medical treatment.
The Louisville Metro Police are urging anyone with information regarding Hebert’s whereabouts to come forward. The case remains under investigation, and Hebert is considered dangerous due to the nature of the alleged offense.
