LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival has unveiled its highly anticipated 2025 season lineup, promising an exciting array of performances under the stars in Louisville’s Central Park. Celebrating its 65th season, the festival will feature a mix of classic Shakespearean plays, community performances, and a collaboration with the Louisville Ballet.
The season will kick off on May 28 with a lively and beloved production of Much Ado About Nothing, the romantic comedy that showcases Shakespeare’s witty dialogue and enduring themes of love and rivalry. Following this, the festival will present Hamlet, one of Shakespeare’s most iconic and profound tragedies, offering a haunting exploration of revenge, madness, and moral dilemma. The season will conclude with Cymbeline, a fairy tale-infused romance filled with adventure, mistaken identities, and reunions.
In addition to the mainstage performances, the festival will feature a special presentation by members of the high school training program, who will perform Twelfth Night. This will give young talent an opportunity to shine on stage in one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies, full of disguises and mistaken identities.
The festival will also showcase a partnership with the Louisville Ballet, which will bring an elegant and enchanting performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, combining Shakespeare’s beloved tale with graceful choreography.
The 2025 Kentucky Shakespeare Festival will run from May 28 to August 10. As always, the festival offers free admission to all performances, providing an accessible cultural experience for the community. Attendees are encouraged to bring their families, friends, and even pets (on leashes), making it an inclusive and enjoyable event for all.
For over six decades, the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival has become a staple of Louisville’s summer cultural offerings, bringing timeless works of Shakespeare to life in the heart of the city.
