LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Five individuals were transported to the hospital Sunday afternoon following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 265 in east Jefferson County, according to Louisville Metro Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:02 p.m. near mile marker 35.9, close to the interchange with I-71. As a result, all southbound lanes of the Gene Snyder Freeway were shut down for over an hour.
Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell reported that one of the vehicles involved, a Ford Expedition, rolled over during the incident.
All five victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The crash site is located roughly one mile from Wolf Pen Branch Road. Traffic management service TRIMARC estimated the highway would remain closed for at least an hour following the accident.
The LMPD’s 8th Division is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
