Arrest Made in Shooting of Juvenile Near Valley Station

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting that left a juvenile in critical condition Tuesday evening near Valley Station.

The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) responded to a call around 6 p.m. reporting a shooting at the Woods of Glen Hill Manor apartment complex, located in the 13000 block of Bold Forbes Boulevard, near Pond Creek and the Gene Snyder Freeway.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately transported to University of Louisville Hospital, where he remains in critical condition, according to police.

Hours later, authorities identified Jamal Sheikh, 18, of Louisville, as the driver of a vehicle connected to the incident. Police were able to obtain video footage from the apartment complex, which showed a vehicle with a distinctive window decal and license plate. Investigators later located the vehicle on Earl Avenue and confirmed Sheikh was behind the wheel.

According to the arrest citation, Sheikh admitted to being present at the scene of the shooting, driving three other individuals to meet the victim for what he described as a “gun transaction.” Sheikh further stated that he removed the decal from the vehicle to alter its appearance after the shooting.

Sheikh was arrested and charged with Assault and Tampering with Physical Evidence. In light of the severity of the victim’s injuries, LMPD’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues. The case has raised concerns about gun violence and illegal firearm transactions in the area, and law enforcement is actively seeking leads to uncover more details surrounding the incident.

This shooting marks the latest in a series of violent incidents in Louisville, underscoring the growing need for efforts to curb gun violence and ensure public safety.
