LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Louisville man was arrested Wednesday afternoon following a shooting incident in the Park Hill neighborhood.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of South 23rd Street and Woodland Avenue at approximately 4:20 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound to the groin. She was immediately transported to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators later identified the suspect as 35-year-old Montra Huddleston. According to an arrest citation, Huddleston had been involved in a verbal altercation with the victim before the shooting occurred. After firing the weapon, Huddleston fled the scene, returning to his residence, where he was subsequently apprehended by officers.
Huddleston now faces charges of assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.
LMPD’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is continuing to investigate the incident. Authorities are asking anyone with further information to come forward.
The shooting serves as a reminder of the ongoing concerns around gun violence in the city, particularly in areas like Park Hill, where police continue to work toward reducing violent crime.
