Louisville Man Arrested for Stealing Ambulance, Faces Multiple Charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Louisville man is facing multiple charges, including theft and assault, after allegedly stealing an ambulance from a downtown hospital. George Russell, 31, was arrested Monday on several outstanding warrants.

According to Louisville Metro Police, Russell was caught on surveillance video at Jewish Hospital on February 28. The footage shows him wandering around the hospital’s ambulance bay before entering one of the vehicles, activating the emergency lights, and driving away. The ambulance was found just three minutes later, parked on South Jackson Street.

Court documents reveal that the stolen ambulance has a value of approximately $500,000. Russell now faces additional charges related to other criminal activities, including a theft from a hotel, as well as a robbery and assault on a security guard at Dosker Manor.

Russell is currently being held at Metro Corrections on a $50,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 23.

The incident has raised questions about security at local hospitals and the potential risks posed by such unusual crimes. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine if Russell’s actions were part of a larger pattern of criminal behavior.
