Adair County Woman Arrested for Attempting to Solicit Juvenile to Kill Husband

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 27-year-old woman from Columbia, Kentucky, has been arrested after Kentucky State Police (KSP) said she tried to recruit a juvenile to murder her husband. Elena Bardin was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges, including solicitation of murder, sexual abuse, and distribution of obscene material to a minor.

According to KSP, the investigation began in March after staff at the Adair Juvenile Detention Center discovered letters and explicit materials sent by Bardin to a juvenile housed at the facility. During a routine search of the juvenile’s living area, staff found disturbing content that prompted the authorities to investigate further.

KSP confirmed that Bardin had attempted to solicit the juvenile to kill her husband, and investigators also discovered evidence of illegal sexual contact between Bardin and the minor. Bardin allegedly sent sexually explicit pictures of herself to the juvenile, further intensifying the charges against her.

Bardin was arrested and charged with solicitation of murder, sexual abuse, and distribution of obscene material to a minor. She is currently being held at the Adair County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.

The case has shocked the community, raising questions about the safety and security of juveniles in detention centers and the potential for such exploitation within these institutions. KSP officials have stated they are continuing to investigate the case and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.

Bardin’s arrest underscores the serious nature of the charges she faces, with authorities determined to ensure that justice is served in this disturbing case.
