Multi-Vehicle Crash Blocks Clark Memorial Bridge for Several Hours

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A multi-vehicle crash caused significant traffic disruptions on the Clark Memorial Bridge, also known as the Second Street Bridge, on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. when a three-vehicle collision blocked all lanes on the bridge, which spans over the Ohio River and connects downtown Louisville to southern Indiana.

According to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), the crash occurred when a passenger vehicle traveling southbound crossed into northbound lanes and struck another vehicle. A third car became involved in the crash after one of the vehicles rolled over.

Two adults were transported to the hospital with injuries. Fortunately, authorities indicated that their injuries were non-life-threatening. The driver of the third vehicle involved in the collision was not taken to the hospital.

LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis reported that no charges are expected in relation to the incident. The bridge was shut down in both directions for several hours as emergency crews cleared the scene and conducted their investigation.

The Clark Memorial Bridge serves as a critical route for commuters traveling between Louisville and southern Indiana, and the closure led to significant delays for drivers in the area. Authorities have not yet provided information about the cause of the crash, but investigations are ongoing.

Drivers are advised to stay updated on traffic conditions as the situation develops.
