LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman has been arrested in connection with the February shooting death of a Metro Corrections officer, authorities announced on Monday.
Kristy Brumley, 35, has been charged with complicity to murder in the fatal shooting of Officer Michael Wehdah, a 44-year-old corrections officer who was found dead on February 16. The officer’s body was discovered in an alley off Cedar Street near South 28th, sparking a thorough investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD).
According to arrest records, Brumley admitted to investigators that she played a key role in the events leading up to Wehdah’s death. She reportedly brought the officer to the location where he was shot, and was present when the fatal shooting occurred. Police allege that Brumley’s involvement didn’t end there. After the shooting, she is said to have taken Wehdah’s vehicle and phone in an effort to conceal or destroy evidence.
The arrest follows an extensive investigation by LMPD detectives, who worked diligently to uncover the details surrounding the officer’s death. Investigators say Brumley’s cooperation with authorities led to the charges against her.
Officer Wehdah’s death shocked the Louisville community, as he had been an employee of Metro Corrections for several years. His tragic death has left colleagues and friends mourning his loss.
Brumley’s arrest marks a significant development in the investigation, but authorities have not yet released information regarding any additional suspects or details about the shooting. The LMPD continues to work on the case and has promised to provide further updates as they become available.
Brumley is currently being held in custody and is expected to appear in court in the coming days.
