LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An 18-year-old charged with the murder of a 15-year-old girl last weekend entered a not guilty plea in court on Monday morning.
Kaden Seviour faces a murder charge in connection with the death of Isabelle Verbaere, who was fatally stabbed on the evening of March 1. Police responded to a stabbing incident in the 5300 block of Buckner Avenue, near Southern Parkway, around 7 p.m. that day. Authorities confirmed that Verbaere was pronounced dead at the scene.
Seviour, who appeared before a judge Monday, was initially charged with murder following the deadly altercation. During the hearing, his attorneys raised concerns about his safety in jail, citing his autism as a factor that might make him vulnerable in the correctional facility. Despite these concerns, the judge chose to keep Seviour’s bond set at $250,000, emphasizing the gravity of the crime.
According to family members, Verbaere and Seviour were familiar with each other from their time in special education classes at school. Felicity Kron, Verbaere’s sister, confirmed the connection, noting that the two teenagers had known each other through their educational setting.
The incident has left the community in shock, with many grappling to understand what led to such a violent act between two young people. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing are ongoing, as authorities work to gather more information about the events that transpired before the fatal encounter.
As the case progresses, both families are left to cope with the devastating loss, while the legal process continues to unfold.
