Charges Filed in Deadly Indianapolis Crash Involving 9-Year-Old Boy

Louisville, Ky. — A man is facing charges in connection with a fatal crash that killed a 9-year-old boy last summer in Indianapolis. The incident, which occurred on July 25, 2024, resulted in the death of Eamon Goodrich, a young boy from New Albany, as he and his family were returning home from a vacation in Michigan.

According to Indiana State Police, the crash took place in a construction zone when a semi-truck, driven by 34-year-old Dieuson Leron, failed to slow down and collided with the Goodrich family’s vehicle. The report stated that Leron was driving too fast and following the Goodrich vehicle too closely at the time of the crash. As a result, Eamon was killed, and his father, Chris Goodrich, was critically injured and spent several days in the ICU. The family’s five-year-old daughter, Brynn, also sustained injuries in the collision.

In response to the crash, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges of reckless homicide and criminal recklessness against Leron. A warrant for his arrest has been issued, and authorities are actively searching for him.

The Goodrich family, who had already filed a civil lawsuit against Leron and his employers, expressed their gratitude for the efforts of the Indiana State Police and the Marion County Prosecutor. In a statement released through their attorney, Chris and Natalie Goodrich thanked those involved in seeking justice for their son.

“We appreciate the time and effort of the Marion County Prosecutor and the Indiana State Police team. We understand that ongoing patience is required as we continue to seek justice for our family,” the statement read. “A number of distressing facts were made public yesterday. We have been presented with information that is difficult to hear and will take time to process. As we continue to move forward in a world that is no longer brightened by Eamon’s presence, we are thankful for the love and support of family, friends, and our community.”

The charges against Leron come after an extensive investigation by state police. The Goodrich family, while mourning their loss, continues to push for justice as they navigate this heartbreaking chapter of their lives.
