Woman helps officer save man in crisis on 2nd Street Bridge

Louisville, KY – A woman out for her daily run played a crucial role in preventing a man in crisis from jumping off the 2nd Street Bridge on Monday around 5:00 p.m.

Before officers arrived, the woman physically intervened to stop the man from jumping.

When Detective Willis reached the scene, the man attempted a second time.

The woman and Willis struggled to restrain him, and as Willis’ hands were occupied, he instructed her to press the distress button on his radio to call for backup.

With their combined efforts, they successfully pulled the man back to safety.

He was placed in handcuffs for his own protection and transported to a hospital for treatment. No injuries were reported.

Authorities praised the woman’s selfless actions, noting that she had no obligation to intervene but chose to do so, ultimately saving a life.
