We all love to walk on the beach, right? Well yes and so did this unfortunate couple.\u00a0When they got home and saw their feet, they screamed for help. And, what’s even worse is the doctors refused to help them after they realized what caused it. Per reports, when the couple, Katie and Eddie, went for a walk on the beach,\u00a0they never imagined a trip would\u00a0leave them in agony.\u00a0They had no idea how walking barefoot on the beach put them at risk. But, when they returned home, they found out first-hand just how bad the beaches can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following their vacation, the couple returned home where their nightmare first began to unfold. The unfortunate woman shared her story on Facebook:\u00a0\u201cMy boyfriend and I recently got back from Punta Cana to discover that we both have larva migrans,\u00a0in other terms worms in our feet,\u201d she wrote. \u201d If your feet become incredibly itchy please get it checked out right away since we simply thought it was just bug bites and it became worse as each day passed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Although Eddie and Katie initially attributed the annoying sensation to bug bites, the irritation got much worse. After a few days, it eventually erupting into a much more severe condition. The couple soon noticed major swelling, bumps, and blisters on their feet, according to reports. This was still just the beginning of their nightmare, however.\u00a0The couple went to the hospital and ended up seeing three different doctors before they were correctly diagnosed and prescribed a course of treatment. The doctor who finally diagnosed the couple had recently seen a similar case with another international traveler. Still, their problems were far from over, according to The Post.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI have dozens of worms in my feet, and so does Katie. It\u2019s kind of sickening to think about,\u201d Eddie said. \u201cIt\u2019s pretty gross. It\u2019s something living in your body that\u2019s not supposed to be there.\u201d Making matters worse, even once properly diagnosed, getting treatment wouldn\u2019t be easy.\u00a0\u201cTo top it all off, Health Canada\u00a0denied our request to receive the medicine (ivermectin) we needed to treat our infection and (we) were forced to get medicine from the states,\u201d Katie explained. Eddie\u2019s mom reportedly drove to America to get the medication the couple needed, causing Katie to sarcastically add, \u201cThank you Canada for your lovely healthcare you provide for us!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"We all love to walk on the beach, right?
