LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two 18-year-old students have been arrested and charged with rape following an incident at the University of Kentucky on February 18. The suspects, Addison Adkins and Angus Thompson, were taken into custody after a reported sexual assault on campus.
According to a statement from Lexington’s WLEX, the victim claimed that Thompson raped her while Adkins allegedly placed his hands on her neck, leaving bruises.
The victim told investigators that Adkins’ actions were physically intimidating, contributing to the traumatic nature of the assault.
Thompson reportedly informed officers that Adkins was heavily intoxicated during the incident and became increasingly aggressive as it unfolded. The University of Kentucky has confirmed the charges and assured that authorities are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The school also emphasized its commitment to providing support for victims of sexual violence. The Violence and Intervention Prevention Center at the university offers confidential and free support to students who may have been affected by sexual assault or violence. The center is available for counseling and guidance.
Additionally, the university encourages students to make use of SAFECATS, a free safety escort and on-demand bus service that operates after hours to help ensure the safety of students across campus.
For further information, students and community members are urged to contact the Violence and Intervention Prevention Center at 859-257-3574, or to reach out for assistance through the SAFECATS service at 859-257-SAFE (7233).
