Man Killed in Shooting on Poplar Level Road in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is dead following a shooting in the Newburg neighborhood of Louisville Wednesday night, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD). The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. in the 5000 block of Poplar Level Road, near the intersection of Rangeland Road, not far from East Indian Trail.

Police responded to a report of a “person down” at the location and found a man who had been shot. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel at the scene confirmed the man had died from his injuries. At this time, the identity of the victim has not been released.

LMPD’s Homicide Unit is investigating the case, but as of now, there are no suspects or arrests in connection with the shooting. Authorities are canvassing the surrounding area, seeking potential witnesses or surveillance footage that could assist in solving the case.

In a statement, LMPD urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. The department has provided an anonymous crime tip line at (502) 574-LMPD (5673), and tips can also be submitted through their Crime Tip Portal.

As the investigation continues, police are asking the public to help bring clarity to the tragic incident.
