Louisville Police Search for Suspect in Deadly Shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police are actively searching for a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred late last month in the Algonquin neighborhood.

Authorities have identified 19-year-old Dacion Mason as the suspect in the shooting death of 19-year-old Tayshawn Thomas. The incident took place just after midnight on June 25, 2024, at an apartment complex located on Bellamy Place, near the University of Louisville.

According to police, Mason should be considered armed and dangerous. Law enforcement has urged the public to avoid approaching him, as he may pose a threat. They are requesting anyone with information about Mason’s whereabouts to come forward.

The LMPD has provided an anonymous tip line at (502) 574-LMPD (5673) for individuals who may have details related to the case. Additionally, tips can be submitted through the online Crime Tip Portal on the LMPD website.

The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, with authorities emphasizing the importance of public assistance in locating the suspect. Police are asking anyone with information, no matter how small, to report it, as it could be vital to solving the case.
