LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man has died following a stabbing in the Southside neighborhood of Louisville on Wednesday evening. The incident, which occurred around 6 p.m. in the 100 block of Colonial Oaks Court, prompted a swift response from the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD).
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders quickly transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.
LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell confirmed the death and stated that the department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified. The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. One recent case turned violent near the intersection of Taylor Boulevard and Beecher Street, where a driver allegedly brake-checked another, leading to a confrontation that escalated into a shooting. Three children were in the car at the time of the incident.
LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey addressed the rising tensions on the road, urging drivers to remain calm and avoid engaging in confrontations. “It is not a personal offense if somebody cuts you off,” Chief Humphrey said. “They don’t know you, they don’t care about you. There is no reason for a minor traffic dispute to turn into a life-or-death situation.”
As warmer weather approaches, LMPD plans to increase patrols as part of its Group Violence Intervention strategy. This initiative is aimed at removing violent offenders from the streets and reducing the number of violent crimes in the area.
