LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A 15-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint and shot in the hand Tuesday evening in southern Jefferson County, prompting an investigation by Louisville Metro Police (LMPD).
The incident occurred near Standiford Plaza Drive and Beeler Way, close to Preston Highway and the Bullitt County line, around 7:30 p.m. According to LMPD, the teenager told officers that he was approached by suspects, who robbed him at gunpoint before firing a shot that struck him in the hand.
The victim was able to run home following the attack, where he contacted authorities. Officers quickly responded to the area and began their investigation. LMPD Sergeant Matt Sanders confirmed that the shooting and robbery were believed to have taken place in the vicinity of Standiford Plaza Drive.
The teenager was transported to a local hospital with what was described as a “graze wound.” Thankfully, his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. As of now, there are no updates on potential suspects.
This incident marks Louisville’s 67th non-fatal shooting of 2025. In comparison, the city had reported 93 non-fatal shootings by this time in 2024. While the decrease in shooting incidents this year is encouraging, law enforcement officials continue to express concern over the ongoing violence in certain neighborhoods.
